Belgium thrashed World Cup favourites Brazil 2-1 in a quarterfinal match at Kazan. A bit of luck in the first half and a lot of courage in the second booked Belgium's spot in the semi-final.

Kevin De Bruyne was the star player for the Belgian side who played splendidly to guide his team towards victory.

Brazil was the last non-European team left in the tournament after Uruguay which lost against France while Belgium has reached the World Cup semis for only the second time losing after out to eventual winners Argentina in 1986.

Everything fell into place for Belgium as Brazilian midfielder Fernandinho turned the ball into his own net from a header delivered by Kevin De Bruyne which brought the first breakthrough for Belgium.

Bruyne ended almost all the hopes for the Selecaos when he lashed the ball into the nets with a brilliant strike from Romelu Lukaku's pass.

Brazil was struggling to find the net till the 76th minute of the game after which the substitute Renato Augusto posted the ball into nets with a header passed by Neymar.

Belgium will meet France in the semis who defeated Uruguay in a match earlier.
