FIFA 2018: Argentina Finally Progresses To The Knockout Phase

The destiny was in favour of Argentina team as they qualified for the knockout on day 13 of the FIFA World Cup. Messi and co. thrashed Nigeria 2-1 in the last encounter of the group stage at the Saint Petersburg Stadium on Tuesday.

Barcelona superstar Messi performed his best when his team needed him the most. He brought the first breakthrough by an absolute stunner for Argentina in the first-half. His goal was the 100th goal of Russia 2018.

The Super Eagles looked strong in the second-half with Victor Moses's scored penalty in the second-half equalizing Lionel Messi opener. Argentina looked to be drifting out of the competition in the last minutes of the game when Marcos Rojo came with a splendorous goal in the 86th minute of the game sending his team to the knockouts in a dramatic style.

Messi was awarded the Budweiser man of the match for his outstanding performance in the game.

Winning over the Super Eagles was not enough for Argentina to enter the Knockouts they also needed Croatia to defeat Iceland and that was confirmed when the Croatians defeated Iceland and finished as toppers of Group D

Argentina will face France in the knockout phase on 30 June.
