FA Cup 5th-Round Preview: Manchester United, Manchester City And Chelsea

FA Cup is said to be the most prestigious trophy in England after the Premier League, and some might argue even more given its significance, hence the interest in such ties is prevalent.

With defending Champions Arsenal ousted in the 3rd round by Nottingham Forrest, the onus is on the big boys of Premier League to capture the prize.

Chelsea hosts Hull City on Friday, in a match that is going to be favourable for the Blues. The Championship side has got defensive frailties with them and can thoroughly be exploited by the Chelsea given their attacking prowess. History also tells a similar story given Chelsea have won 4 of the last 5 matches these two teams have played, with an exception of a draw. Hull City will look to make an upset, but this might just be an uphill battle for them from the get-go.

Manchester United travel to Huddersfield for their cup-tie on Saturday, a place they've already lost before this season in the Premier League. Jose Mourinho will be well aware of this fact and that Huddersfield recently battered AFC Bournemouth 4-1 in the same stadium. With the addition of extravagant winger Alexis Sanchez, United will have the edge. For Huddersfield, it's a choice of what holds more significance for them, a Premier League survival chance or an even bigger outside chance to win the Cup. Given how close they are to the relegation zone, The Terriers might be overwhelmed and The Red Devils might just take over the game and out-class their opponents.

Tottenham Hotspurs travel to Rochdale AFC on Sunday. Spurs are coming off of a sensational comeback to defending Italian Champions Juventus in UEFA Champions League on Tuesday. But, complacency doesn't exist in Mauricio Pochettino's books. He has fielded strong teams throughout the campaign and a similar one is expected in this tie. Rochdale AFC will have to curb the attacking trident of Dele Alli, Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen to have a chance to win.

Premier League leaders Manchester City visit Wigan Athletic on Monday, in a rematch of the infamous 2013 FA Cup final. Wigan won that with odds being heavily against them, but a similar feat looks bleak on the cards given the exorbitant attacking strength city possesses. Manchester City has lost only 1 match this season in Premier League and it's hard to foresee it happening on Monday again.

Elsewhere, West Bromwich Albion host Southampton in a battle of Premier League teams and former Premier League champions Leicester City host second-tier side Sheffield United. Both these matches will be played on February 17.
