Indian skipper Virat Kohli was overly confident about his victory over South Africa in the triple format series but the shocking end results of the opening test dampened his spirits a bit. Many questioned the selectors' decision to chose Rohit Sharma over Ajinkya Rahane in the Test format.

While the bowlers performed remarkably well, the Indian batsmen were unable to play on the green field. With the target of 208 runs to achieve after the second innings, the visiting team had an upper hand which soon diminished when Vernon Philander claimed six wickets.

Bundling up at the mere 135, India lost the opening test of a long series to the hosting team by 72 runs. Kohli fans were disappointed but believe in the team's capability and their support showered on the men in blue through some heart-warming tweets.

Answering questions related to team's unexpected selection, Virat has said in the post-match press conference, "Well, we decided to go on current form. Rohit has scored runs in the last three Test matches that he has played, and he was batting well, even in the series against Sri Lanka."

"These things can always be looked at in hindsight -- thinking what if or what if not. But we decided to go with this combination and current form was definitely the criterion," Kohli added.
