Caribbean Premier League: Andre Russell Scores Fastest Ton And Takes Hat-Trick

West Indies star all-rounder Andre Russell on Saturday took Jamaica Tallawahs to a stunning win in the Caribbean Premier League against Trinbago Knight Riders.

Andre Russel first took a hat-trick while bowling 20th over and then went on to smash the fastest century in the Twenty20 Caribbean Premier League, and guided his team to a 4-wicket victory.

Russell dismissed Brendon McCullum, Darren Bravo, and Denesh Ramdin to finish his first CPL hat-trick. He was still not satisfied, Chasing a total of 224, Russell, came down to bat when his side was struggling at 41/5.

He hammered fastest CPL century in just 40 balls which also included 13 sixes and six fours, with a strike-rate of 246.94, the maximum by any player in CPL. The batsman remained unbeaten on 121 in 49 balls, as Jamaica went on to chase the total with just 3 balls remaining.

Russell had set the previous fastest century benchmark in the tournament with a 42-ball ton in 2016 and beat it by two balls in his latest innings.

Russell’s all-round performance earned him the Man-of-the-match award trophy and gave his side their first win in their first match of the tournament.

Meanwhile, Guyana Amazon Warriors seamer Sohail Tanvir was fined with a 15 % of match fee for making an inappropriate gesture during the CPL match against St. Kitts & Nevis Patriots in Guyana.
