Barcelona Signs Midfielder Arturo Vidal From Bayern Munich

Barcelona has agreed to a deal with Bayern Munich for signing midfielder Arturo Vidal for a three-year contract.

The 31-year old Vidal will proceed for a medical with the Spanish champions in the next few days.

Speaking to media, Barcelona spokesperson said in a statement that, "Barcelona will shortly inform everyone about the arrival of the player and the agenda of the presentation ceremony".

The Bavarian club also revealed that "Arturo Vidal leaves Bayern and moves to the Spanish top flight with immediate effect for Barcelona. Both clubs agreed to the transfer this Friday night."

According to media reports Karl-Heinz Rummenigge Bayern Munich CEO, also thanked the veteran Chile star "for three great years".

Karl-Heinz further said, "He always turned up in important games and we could always rely on him".

Vidal also addressed his fans on the Bayern Munich website, "Thanks to Bayern and all the fans. I enjoyed my stay in Munich very much. I want to thank the club for giving me another chance to take on a new challenge in Barcelona".

He began his career with Colo-Colo before moving to Europe with Bayer Leverkusen in 2007 and then onto Juventus in 2011. He won four straight Serie A titles with Juve prior to joining Bayern

It is learnt that Vidal scored 22 goals and added 18 assists in 124 competitive games for Bayern, helping them win the Bundesliga all three seasons he spent at the Allianz Arena.

Vidal, a veteran of 100 caps for Chile, helped his country win the Copa America in 2015.

With the signing of Vidal, Barcelona had their fifth addition to the squad this summer along with Bordeaux's Malcom, Sevilla's Clement Lenglet, Gremio's Arthur and KAS Eupen's Moussa Wague, who completed his move to the Camp Nou earlier on Friday.
