Australian Open 2018: Rohan Bopanna And Timea Babos Move To Mixed Double Quarters

Here on Tuesday Indian tennis player Rohan Bopanna and his partner from Hungary Timea Babos entered the open mixed doubles quarter-finals of Australian open. Playing against United States’s Vania King and Croatia’s Franko Skugor they made a win of 6-4, 6-4 and continued their journey in Australian open.

The match between the players lasted a little over an hour where Bopanna and Babos break in the third game of the opening set to take a 2-1 lead. In the fifth game of the second set, Indo-Hungarian pair broke Croatia’s serve and made the digits 3-2. During the game, Hungarian player Babos showed pretty impressive composure in saving two break points on her serve in the eighth game to take a 5-3 lead and steals the match from the opposition.

Bopanna and Babos sent down eight aces whereas on the other side Vania and Skugor just made it to five. The winning pair of this game will now face the unseeded Colombian Juan Sebastian and American Abigail Spears in the last eight.

At present Rohan Bopanna is the only Indian remains in title contention at the Australian open as earlier, another Indian player Leander Paes, Purav Raja, Divij Sharan and Bopanna himself already lost in the third round of the men's doubles competition.
