The Swiss legend seed Roger Federer once again created history at the Rod Laver Arena by claiming his 6th Australian Open title on Sunday. Along with his victory over Marin Cilic, the Swiss have become the first man to win 20th Glam Slam titles.

Earlier, Margaret Court, Serena Williams and Steffi Graf were able to achieve the feat. Even after losing five games, the defending champion made a power-packed comeback and marked a five-set victory 6-2 6-7 (5-7) 6-3 3-6 6-1.

The incredible game saw Cilic losing calm on various occasions but the sixth Croatian seed kept making an aggressive comeback. He broke Roger five times but the ultimate champion was in no mood to let the championship slip through his fingers.

Bringing an A game to the court, Federer kept clinging to his serve leading Cilic to a poor start. The Croatian finalist tried to maintain momentum but was slipping every now and then. The hard conditions with the roof closed weren't helping the players' situation either.

Post winning the match, Federer expressed, "The fairy tale continues for us, for me. After the great year, I had last year, it's incredible." Marin, who had a great tournament, noted, "It was an amazing journey for me to come here to the final. It could have been the best 2 weeks of my life."

Both the finalists have played an impressive game for three hours and two minutes. After his victory, Federer was visually emotional and expressed his joy by running around the field. Roger has joined Novak Djokovic and Roy Emerson to claim six Australian Open men's singles titles.
