Asian Games 2018: India Beats Pakistan By 2-1 To Win Bronze Medal In Hockey

After losing in the semifinals against Malaysia, the Indian hockey team clinched a bronze medal for the country in the Asian games 2018 on Saturday.    

In a thrilling encounter with arch-rival Pakistan team, Indian won by 2-1, scored by Akashdeep Singh and Harmanpreet Singh.

India dominated the whole match and was ahead with 2-0 lead till 52nd minute of the game as Pakistan pull back with forward Muhammad Atiq's goal.

On an impressive performance by Indian hockey team in the Asian games, 2018 Olympic medalist and Minister of State (I/C) Youth Affairs and Sports Rajyavardhan Singh tweeted, “Well done @TheHockeyIndia! An impressive performance by the Indian #Hockey team to win a Bronze medal in the #AsianGames2018 by defeating Pakistan by 2-1.”

In the whole match, India played through counter attacks and gave away possession through too many sloppy passes.

On the other hand, Pakistan looked better side in the second and third quarter but failed to convert chances one after the another. 

The final quarter was competitive as both the teams played really well by creating chance after chance.

Similarly, in the last match with Pakistan at the Champions Trophy Hockey tournament in Breda India defeated Pakistan by 4-0. 

So far At the Asian Games 2018, India has performed really well with winning 69 medals including 15 gold, 24 silver and 30 bronze.

After 1986 and 2010 it is a third bronze medal for Indian hockey team at Asiad games.
