Delhi's CM Arvind Kejriwal Hands Prize Money Of Rs 1 Crore To Tennis Player Divij Sharan

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday praised Asian Games gold medallist Indian tennis player Divij Sharan at Safdarjung Club and also handed him a prize money of Rs one crore.

Divij Sharan won a gold medal in the men's doubles tennis event at the 18th Asian Games held in Indonesia.

Speaking to media the Chief Minister at a felicitation ceremony said, "Sharan made Delhi and India proud by achieving the feat."

During the ceremony, Arvind Kejriwal also felicitated the coach of Sharan and handed over a prize money of Rs 6 lakh.

According to the reports in media, the Delhi government conducted the felicitation ceremony in the athlete's locality.

Sharan’s felicitation was the first and such ceremonies would continue in the respective areas of the medal-winning players.

The Arvind Kejriwal government recently enhanced the prize money for the players who won medals at Asian Games. The prize money was enhanced from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 1 crore for gold medallist, Rs 14 lakh to Rs 75 lakh for silver medallists and Rs 10 lakh to Rs 50 lakh for bronze medallists.

 The event was attended by Aam Aadmi Party MLAs Somnath Bharti, Surinder Singh, Madan Lal, Ajay Dutt and a large number of local residents.
