Ind Vs Aus Adelaide Test: Rishabh Pant Scripts History Grabs 6 Catches In An Inning, Equals MS Dhoni's Test Record

The young sensation Rishabh Pant who created history on Saturday after becoming the first Indian wicket-keeper to take 6 catches in a Test innings against Australia in the ongoing 1st test match held at Adelaide Oval on Saturday.

The 21-year-old Rishabh Pant equalled MS Dhoni's record after grabbing Josh Hazlewood's catch behind the stumps from Md Shami's delivery in the 1st innings.  

Interestingly, MS Dhoni is the only other Indian wicket-keeper to take six catches in a Test innings when he achieved the feat against New Zealand at Wellington in 2009.

The other wicket-keepers who have taken six catches in an innings against Australia are Denis Lindsay (South Africa), Jack Russell (England), Alec Stewart (England), Chris Read (England) and Matt Prior (England). The list is topped by Ridley Jacobs of West Indies who took seven catches at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in 2000.

Pant was responsible for the dismissal of Mitchell Starc, Travis Head and Josh Hazlewood on Saturday while earlier, he took the catches of Usman Khawaja, Peter Handscomb and Australia captain Tim Paine.

In the on-going match, Pant managed to score 25 runs in the first innings before he was sent back by Nathan Lyon.

Pant, playing only his sixth Test match has scored 346 runs with an average of 43.25 and the highest score of 114.
