India put up a dominating performance against Sri Lanka as the men in blue beat their neighbors by a huge margin of 168 runs in the penultimate match of the 5 match ODI series.

India is now on the verge of whitewashing their rivals in the ODI series after they previously did the same in the Tests. The tour to Sri Lanka has been an encouraging one for India as it has given its players enough exposure to prepare themselves for the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup.

In the 4th ODI, all the focus was on former Indian captain MS Dhoni who was playing in his 300th ODI. There were some other landmarks that the Men in Blue were able to reach. Here are 8 of them:

1. MS Dhoni Is The Most ‘Not-Out’ Player In ODI History

MS Dhoni took over a record previously shared by Chaminda Vaas and Shaun Pollock by collecting the most number of not outs in ODIs. He was not out during India’s innings in the 4th match which took his total not-out tally to 73.

2. Virat Kohli Now Has Been A Part Of 10 200+ Partnerships

The Indian captain put up a masterful performance with the bat, scoring 131 against Sri Lanka. However, during his innings, he strung a partnership of 219 runs with Rohit Sharma which made him the first player in ODI to be a part of double digit double century partnerships.

3. Virat Kohli Becomes Youngest Batsman To Score 2000 Runs In ODIs

In his knockoff 131, the Delhi lad became the youngest player to score 2000 runs in ODI history.

4. Virat Kohli Is The Highest Run Getter Of 2017

It seems that the Indian captain didn’t stop after breaking two records. His third record followed when he took over South Africa’s Faf du Plessis for scoring the most number of runs this year. Kohli has now scored 907 runs courtesy of two hundreds and seven fifties. Du Plessis, on the other hand, has scored 814 runs in 2017.

5. Rohit Sharma Becomes The First Batsman To Hit Back To Back Centuries In Sri Lanka

The opener became the first player to score consecutive centuries on Sri Lankan soil after his 88 balls 104.

6. This Was India’s Highest Total Against Sri Lanka

India came out to bat first in the fourth ODI and put up a score of 375 on the scoreboard at the end of 50 overs. This was India’s highest total against their neighbours.

7. Kohli Is The Highest Scoring ODI Captain On Lanka Soil

Kohli’s 131 is the joint highest by a captain in an ODI in Sri Lanka. He shares the record with the legendary Arjuna Ranatunga.

8. Two Batsmen Finished With Scores of 50 and 49 In The Same Innings In ODI History

A pretty bizarre to hold, but it was nonetheless achieved in the 4th ODI. Manish Pandey finished with a score of 50 and Dhoni scored 49.
