Kane Williamson led-Kiwis side grabbed a nail-biting contest to defeat India by four runs in the 3rd and final T20I to clinch the series 2-1 in Hamilton on Sunday.

A brilliant top-order power hitting batting helped the home side to post a mammoth total of 212/4.

In reply India did not found a good start, as the Men in blue lost their opener Shikhar Dhawan for 5-runs, stand-in captain Rohit Sharma gave the team a steady start but later failed to convert it into a big one.

No.3 for T20I Vijay Shankar smashed some quick-fire boundaries to keep India in the match and got out by scoring 43-runs off 28 balls.

Coming into bat Rishabh Pant smashed 16-runs off his first 3 balls and kept the momentum on for team India.

Even after Pant's departure Hardik Pandya followed the same path and smashed six on the 1st ball and got out by striking an 11 ball 21-runs.

Former Indian captain MS Dhoni even tried to go for the big ones right from the beginning but could only manage 2-runs and walked back to pavilion.

Dinesh Karthik and Krunal Pandya were throwing the kitchen sink at everything coming in their way but could not manage to take the Men in blue to their 1st-ever series win on New Zealand soil.

For India, Chinaman Kuldeep Yadav took two wickets while Bhuvneshwar and Khaleel took a wicket each.

Colin Munro's 72 off 40 balls and Tim Seifert's 43-run knock set up a perfect platform for the other batters which helped them post a massive total.

Chasing a mammoth 213-run target, India could only manage 208/7 in their 20 overs.

Brief scores: New Zealand: 212/4 (Colin Munro 72, Tim Seifert 43; Kuldeep Yadav 2/26) against India:208/7 (Vijay Shankar 43, Rohit Sharma 38; Mitchell Santner 2/32, Daryl Mitchell 2/27).
