After plenty of leaks and some teasers, Chinese Phone maker, Xiaomi finally unveiled its much-awaited gaming smartphone. The Xiaomi-backed gaming company, Black Shark Technologies unveiled it's “Black Shark” in China on Friday.

The Black Shark has gone on pre-order in China through Xiaomi Mall, Jingdong and Mi Japan at a starting price of 478 US Dollars and will be available from 20 April 2018.

The Black Shark’s black-and-green styling won’t come as a surprise to anyone who’s seen the Razer Phone, the most prominent gaming phone on the market today, although it’s a lot smoother and curvier.

The Black Shark is an entirely new device with customized hardware to bring out the best gaming performance out of a handset. It includes a new type of cooling system, new ISP, the latest Snapdragon 845 and a massive 4,000 mAh battery.

The gaming smartphone is given a 5.99 inch IPS LCD screen with Full HD+ resolution and 97% DCI-P3 coverage. The Snapdragon 845 chip comes with the usual Kryo 385 cores and Adreno 630 GPU.

Xiaomi equipped the phone with a multi-stage integrated liquid cooling system that brings the CPU temperature 8° C down.

The phone does not have a microSD slot, but comes in two versions - 6 GB RAM + 64 GB internal storage or 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage. The image processing chip onboard is new by MEMC that brings sharper colours and overall smooth performance when needed.

The handset features a dual camera setup at the back with a f/1.75 aperture 12MP primary sensor and a f/1.75 aperture 20MP secondary sensor. There’s a 20 MP camera on the front for selfies.

In Connectivity, the phone includes USB-C, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, 2 x 2 MIMO, Bluetooth 5.0, 4G VoLTE, dual-SIM support, GPS, AGPS and GLONASS.

The Black Shark gaming phone runs a customized gaming-centric JOY UI with Android Oreo underneath with a sprinkle of some MIUI features.

The Black Shark phone is available to pre-order online now for about 557 US Dollars for a model with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, which is pretty cheap for a phone with a Snapdragon 845.

It’s not clear whether Xiaomi will be selling it directly.
