Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the nation and a name synonymous with the practice of non-violence, is famous across the world. On the occasion of his 148th birth anniversary, a day that is celebrated as a national holiday 'Gandhi Jayanti', leaders of the nation paid tribute to the great Mahatma.

“I bow to beloved Bapu on Gandhi Jayanti. His noble ideals motivate millions across the world,” PM Modi said.

“Mahatama Gandhi is as relevant to the world now as he was during his lifetime… for Mahatma Gandhi, cleanliness was more important than freedom,” he continued.

“Let us all walk on footpath laid down by Mahatma Gandhi and fulfill his wishes,” said the PM.

PM Modi, President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and BJP leader LK Advani paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at his memorial at Rajghat in Delhi.
