Fringes And Gladiators: Longchamp Celebrates 70 Years With First Runway Show

Originally known as a luxury leather goods company, Longchamp celebrated its 70th year anniversary by making its debut on the ramp at the ongoing New York Fashion Week. The show was dominated with stylish and chic gladiators and fringes of all shades and types.

The creative director Sophie Delafontaine, in conversation with the Associated Press said that they went with vibrant '70s glamour, a California spirit and the audacious elegance of Paris to create the line.

"It's our 70th anniversary and I'm very proud to show the creative part of Longchamp here in New York," said Delafontaine.

"I feel here a huge energy. It's a very dynamic city. It's also a very strong market for us. We just opened a store on Fifth Avenue so we are very pleased to bring a little part of our French touch here in New York."

The debut ramp show was attended reality TV star Kendall Jenner, who is the new face of the brand.

All praise for the new face of the brand, Delafontaine said "She's not only a model. She's also a very smart woman. She's a business woman. She's independent, she's international, she's beautiful, of course."
