Satyendra Jain Delhi Health MinisterDelhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain has summoned the commissioners of all three municipal corporations in the national capital over complaints of the "lack" of fumigation or delay in ensuring of the same in residential and market areas here. The move comes after the government received several complaints from residents and traders that MCD staff do not visit their homes and market areas for fumigation. "In view of the rise in complaints by the people, the health minister has tomorrow summoned commissioners of all three civic bodies," a senior government official said on Sunday. Jain may seek a report on the rise in dengue cases in the national capital in his meeting with the three commissioners, the official said. Earlier, Jain made a surprise visit at three government hospitals -- Sanjay Gandhi Hospital, Ambedkar Hospital and Bhagwan Mahavir Hospital -- to review dengue preparedness there. "The health minister was satisfied with the hospitals' dengue preparedness," the official said. Jain also held a meeting with health secretary, divisional commissioner and directors of local bodies and directed the officials to buy 1,000 new beds to accommodate dengue patients at the government hospitals. Delhi government had on Saturday issued show-cause notices to five private hospitals in the wake of the tragic case in which the parents of a seven-year-old boy committed suicide following the death of their child due to suspected dengue after he was allegedly denied admission for treatment.
