Punjab CM Amarinder Singh on Sunday expressed discontent over the actions of Congress leader and former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu, who was seen hugging the army chief of Pakistan, Qamar Bajwa and was also seen sitting next to the President of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir.

Congress Leader Navjot Singh returned to India on Sunday after attending the swearing-in ceremony of Imran Khan as the Prime Minister of Pakistan.

He faced immense criticism and controversy from the beginning of his visit as he left for Pakistan while the nation was mourning on the death of the former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajyapee.

Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh Badal condemning the act said, “Everyday our jawans are getting martyred. To hug their Chief General Bajwa...I am against this. The fact is that the man should understand that our soldiers are being killed every day.”

“My own regiment lost 1 Major & 2 jawans a few months ago & everyday somebody is being shot & whether the man who pulled the trigger is to blame or the man who gives the order which is the chief, and the chief is General Bajwa,” he added further.

“If you’re invited as a guest of honour somewhere, you sit wherever you are asked to. I was sitting somewhere else but they asked me to sit there,” Sidhu said to the media in defence.
