Youth Can Change Their Fate Through Sports And Education, Says Rajnath Singh In Kashmir

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh during a two-day trip to Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday addressed a sports conclave attended by more than 3,000 sportspersons, students and enthusiasts from the regions of Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh.

Singh highlighted the importance of sports and education for youth, saying that many talented have been "lost in the dark for many years" in the state.

"Many sporting talents have been lost in the dark for many years in this state. Now we are giving opportunities to the youth and sporting talents of the state," said the Union Home Minister at the conclave organised by Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council in Srinagar.

"I believe that the youth of Jammu and Kashmir can change the future course and their own fate through 'Sports Ki Karamat' (miracle of sports) and ‘Taleem Ki Taqat' (power of education)," Rajnath Singh said.

"Sports can bring a change in your lives. Children can be misguided easily but we know the truth that is why we have withdrawn all stone pelting cases against them," he said.

Rajnath Singh also facilitated prominent sports personalities at the event including Parvez Rasool, Manzoor Ahmad, Mehraj Ud Din Wadoo, Palak Kour, Balveen Kaur, Surya Bhanu and members of Real Kashmir Football Club.

The 2-day trip of Rajnath Singh has been scheduled to review the security situation amidst an ongoing unilateral ceasefire during the Islamic month of prayer 'Ramadan' which has been flouted by militants.  

Rajnath Singh and other senior officials are expected to take a call on whether the ceasefire should be extended beyond the end of Ramadan on June 15.
