35-Year-Old Woman Alleges, Forced To Sit On Top Of Jeep, Paraded Through Punjab Village [WATCH]

A 35-year-old woman on Wednesday claimed that she was forced to sit atop a police jeep and was paraded throughout her village.

According to media reports, Jaswinder Kaur alleged that a team of Crime Branch raided her house to arrest her father-in-law, Balwant Singh, on Tuesday in connection with some case. When they didn’t find the man at home, the police team forced her to sit on the roof of the vehicle and drove her around the village to humiliate her.

Majitha DSP Nirlep Singh while speaking to the media, said, “As per our preliminary probe, the woman was forcibly made to sit on the vehicle by the crime branch team. We have received MLR report of the woman and action will be taken against the accused after recording her statement.”

SSP Amritsar, Parampal Singh while addressing the local media said, “Right now, I cannot comment on the allegations of the woman unless the matter is thoroughly investigated. Moreover, the raiding team has now approached us and lodged a complaint against her for attacking the police team and damaging the police vehicle”.

The raid was conducted by the BOI team and no personnel from the district police was part it, the SSP said, adding that they were not informed of the raid.

Earlier in August this year, a woman was thrashed, stripped and paraded on the streets of Bihiya district of the state. The mob suspected the woman to have been involved in the death of a teenager boy. Around 15 people were apprehended on the day of the incident.
