The three-day-long event organized by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh entered its second day on Tuesday. The lecture series is titled Future of Bharat: An RSS Perspective.

Addressing the gathering, RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat said, “If they (Modi government) want any advice, they come to us and we help as much as we can. But we don’t have any influence over the government’s policies nor do we interfere in their way of politics.”

He added, “Taking everyone along with us is the philosophy of RSS. We believe in Sarvepi Sukhinah Santu that goes beyond the concept of 'maximum good of maximum people'.”

"We don't participate in politics, that doesn't mean we don't have any views. We do have our views on national policies, we talk about the policies with all our might. Sangh abstaining from politics doesn't mean we will not talk about infiltrators. These are national issues and they affect the entire country. Sangh gives its views on all such issues," said Bhagwat.

Speaking on the concept of Hindutva, he said, “Sangh works towards universal brotherhood. And the cardinal principle of this brotherhood is unity in diversity. This thought comes from our culture, which the world calls Hindutva. That's why we call it a Hindu Rashtra.”

He also said, “Hindu Rashtra doesn't mean there's no place for Muslims. The day it becomes so, it won't be Hindutva. Hindutva talks about one world family.”

Talking about religion he said, “While speaking in Parliament about Hindu Code Bill, Dr Ambedkar asked what is a religion? A value or a code? You consider a code as a religion. A code may change but not values. Our perspective towards religion is that it is based on values.

“No single language or God binds us together. Our food habits, rituals, and customs are not the same. We are divided in various states, languages, & castes. In spite of this, we claim to be the progeny of Bharat Mata and the followers of the universal human values,” he added.

Earlier on the first day of the event, Bhagwat praising the Congress Party had said, “Congress played a big role in the freedom movement and gave India many great personalities.”

Talking about RSS he had said, “The organization has emerged as a power in the country and many people target it out of fear.” Bhagwat also said, "Its work gets advertised automatically when its power increases. And when its work gets popular, then people try to learn more about it. And then few people target Sangh out of fear of its increasing power which is quite natural."
