Lt General (Retired) DS Hooda, who oversaw the surgical strikes on terror launch pads across the Line of Control (LoC) in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) in September 2016, on Friday said that if India wants to send Pakistan another strong message, India 'can definitely' do the strikes again.

The surgical strikes conducted by India on 7 terror launch pads across the LoC in PoK were conducted on the intervening night of September 28-29 in 2016 were denied by Pakistan, but proof was shared in the form of a video which went viral on Thursday.

General DS Hooda the Northern Army Commander in 2016, said that the final decision to conduct the surgical strikes came from the political leadership, but the military was in agreement that something needed to be done.

"Decision (on conducting surgical strikes) finally came from political leadership but military was in agreement that we needed to do something. If we want to send another strong response to Pakistan in the future we can definitely do it again," said General Hooda.

The surgical strikes were carried out in retribution for the terrorist attack on the Indian Army base in Jammu and Kashmir's Uri on September 18, killing 19 soldiers.

On September 29, 2016, the then DGMO Lt General Ranbir Singh had announced that India had conducted surgical strikes on terror pads along the LoC inflicting 'significant casualties' on the terrorists, but the numbers were not revealed, nor any videos.
