[Watch]: Massive Fire At BPCL Hydro Cracker Plant In Mumbai

At least 21 people got injured after a massive blast at hydro cracker plant of BPCL (Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited) refinery near the Eastern Freeway in Chembur, Mumbai on Wednesday.

Among the 21 injured people, one is in critical condition and has been admitted to ICU at Inlax hospital, Chembur.

The bast was really big as fire and smoke can be seen emanating after a blast at BPCL refinery. The residents around the area said, "We felt like an earthquake after a blast."

DCP Zone-VI has said, “The incident was reported around 02:45 PM. Around 43 workers have been reported injured due to the explosion. After preliminary treatment at BPCL First Aid Centre, 22 were allowed to go home and 21 were shifted to Inlax hospital, Chembur. They have had fractured and lacerated wounds. One is being treated in ICU.”

“Around 8 Fire engines from BPCL, HPCL, BARC, RCF, BMC and Mazgaon Dock with 4 BMC tankers are taking efforts to extinguish the fire,” he added.

The fire department reported a level 3 fire call under which seven fire engines, two foam tenders, two jumbo tankers have been sent into action.

According to reports in media, the residents from 72 Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) buildings who live close to the refinery, raised slogans against the government outside the plant.
