VVIPs In Attendance At Wedding Of Lalu Prasad's Son Tej Pratap Yadav, Public Steals Food

The high profile wedding of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav's son Tej Pratap Yadav with Aishwarya Roy took place on Saturday night, and while top politicians made their presence felt, public crowding in at the venue stole food and crockery.

The wedding held in Patna was attended by political leaders including Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Samajwadi Party chief and former UP CM Akhilesh Yadav, Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan, Bihar Governor Satya Pal Malik, Former Union Minister CP Thakur, Nationalist Congress Party president Sharad Pawar and veteran socialist leader Sharad Yadav.

Father of the groom, former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad who had been serving a jail sentence in connection with multiple fodder scam cases was initially granted 5 days parole to attend the wedding, which was later extended to 6 weeks for health reasons.

Chaos took place at the wedding when an unruly crowd breached the cordon that separated the pandal made for the VIPs and the media and started looting food items. A horde of people, believed to be RJD supporters reportedly broke the cordon and began the looting. Soon after, the entire area was strewn with broken crockery and upturned tables and chairs.

According to organisers, arrangements had been made for food for 7,000 people, but no significant attention was given towards regulating the crowd.

The 30-year-old Tej Pratap Yadav, a sitting lawmaker and former state minister, was engaged to Aishwarya Roy, daughter of RJD MLA Chandrika Rai, in a ceremony in Patna on April 28, but Lalu was not present at the event.
