Vijay Kumar Dev Replaces Anshu Prakash As The New Chief Secretary Of Delhi

IAS officer Vijay Kumar dev on Friday has been appointed as the new chief secretary of India till further orders.

It is learnt that Dev has been a 1987 batch IAS officer from AGMUT (Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram, and Union Territories) cadre and has also been Chandigarh's UT adviser.

He replaced Anshu Prakash, who was allegedly beaten up by the AAP MLA’s in the presence of Arvind Kejriwal at the Chief Minister's residence on the night of February 19, 2018, where he had been called for a late-night meeting.

Prakash was transferred last week as the additional secretary of the Department of Telecommunications.

According to the media reports the Ministry of Home Affairs issued the order stating, "With the approval of the competent authority, it has been decided to appoint Vijay Kumar Dev, IAS (AGMUT:1987) as Chief Secretary, Government of NCT of Delhi with effect from the date of joining till further orders".

Vijay has also worked as a Deputy Election Commissioner in the Election Commission of India, Chandigarh, and has also served as the Additional Secretary to the Government of India and has been currently posted as CEO of Delhi, his second time as the top official in the poll body.

Delhi's Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Manoj Parida, who hails from Odisha and is also an officer of the 1986 batch of the AGMUT, is in the race for the new chief secretary of Delhi.
