International Working President of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Pravin Togadia who had gone 'missing' on Monday morning, leading to protests from supporters alleging police involvement in his disappearance, was found at a hospital in Ahmedabad on Monday night.

VHP workers, alleging that the police had detained Togadia had laid siege at the Sola police station, shouting slogans and blocking traffic on the main Sarkehj-Gandhinagar highway demanding that the police immediately locate him.

The police set up 4 teams to trace Togadia, who was found admit in the Chandramani hospital in Ahmedabad in stable condition after he reportedly fell unconscious in a park due to low sugar levels.

The suspicion of police involvement in Togadia's disappearance was raised after a team of the Rajasthan Police went to his home with an arrest warrant against him in connection with a hate-speech case of 2015.

"Our International Working President Pravin Togadia is missing since 10 am today. The responsibility of his whereabouts and security lies with the administration," VHP's Gujarat unit general secretary Ranchod Bharwad said.

However, the police claimed that they did not find Togadia at his home and did not arrest him.

"Mr Togadia was not arrested by our team," said Alok Kumar Vashishtha, a senior officer of Rajasthan police.

"As per my information, the Rajasthan Police team is returning without executing the arrest warrant, as Mr Togadia was not found in Ahmedabad. It is a rumour that Mr Togadia is in our custody which is not true at all," he added.

According to doctors at the Chandramani hospital, Togadia was found in an unconscious state by an unknown person in a park near Kotarpur area, in east Ahmedabad who then called for an ambulance.
