Veteran Politician & Former Uttrakhand Chief Minister ND Tiwari Dies At Age 92

Former Uttarakhand chief minister and a Congress party top leader ND Tiwari has passed away at Max Hospital in Saket, New Delhi on Thursday. It was his 93rd birthday today.

Tiwari was put on dialysis due to the failure of his kidneys and was admitted to the hospital early in the morning.

According to reports, the doctors have said that he was suffering from an acute bacterial infection in the stomach.

Tiwari had served Minister for External Affairs in the cabinet of Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and Governor of Andhra Pradesh from 2007 to 2009.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed over the death of Tiwari and said, "I am saddened by the untimely demise of former Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand Chief Minister ND Tiwari. I offer my deepest condolences to his family and pray that his soul rests in peace. He will always be remembered as an able administrator."

Another Former Chief Minister of Uttrakhand expressed grief over the incident and tweeted, "We all are very sad by the news of a sudden demise of Shri Narayan Dutt Tiwari, former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand."

Tiwari was the only politician who had served as Chief Minister of 2 states. He was thrice Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and Chief Minister of Uttarakhand.

Tiwari was born in Kumaoni family in 1925, in the village of Baluti, Nainital district.
