UP Investors Summit 2018: An Initiative to Make UP Investor Friendly

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday inaugurated the 2-day Uttar Pradesh Investors Summit- 2018 in Lucknow. The summit is an attempt by the Yogi Government to make UP investor friendly and create jobs.

President Ram Nath Kovind will attend the valedictory function on the second day. 

Modi arrived at the Summit earlier today and visited exhibition halls. Modi was welcomed by a robot created by a group of students. The robot greeted the PM and other dignitaries by saying “Athithi Devo Bhava.” 

CM Yogi Adityanath stated the aim of the summit, "through this investor summit, we intend to provide a platform for the best minds and expertise around the world to collaborate with us in this endeavor. On this note, I welcome you to Uttar Pradesh Investors Summit 2018."

Claiming that the government has already signed about 900 memorandums of understandings (MoUs) with different companies, Yogi said, “The government is organising this for the betterment of the public. Through this event, UP will get an opportunity to change its image. Hence, it is the responsibility of every department that it should strive for its success.”

Reliance Industries Chief Mukesh Ambani addressed the summit and pledged to invest Rs 20,000 crore in the state.

Ambani said, "Jio will be present in every single village in UP by the end of 2018. We will together fulfill PM Modi's dream of making Uttar Pradesh an 'Uttam Pradesh'."

Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani too spoke at the summit.

He announced-

To construct storage infrastructure, multi-model logistic parks in the state.

To set up 1,000 MW solar power project in the state.

Adani said, "the group will also actively participate in road and metro projects. There is a change in the global image of the country because of the Prime Minister's efforts. India cannot grow without Uttar Pradesh. CM Yogi Adityanath's leadership is attracting new investments in the state."

Aditya Birla Group chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla addressed the summit. He pledged to invest Rs 25,000 crore in multiple businesses across the state.

Anand Mahindra announced to set up an electric vehicle plant in Uttar Pradesh. Mahindra also announced to invest Rs 200 cr in Varanasi in infrastructure projects.

Several ministers are also scheduled to attend the event, including home minister Rajnath Singh, Union minister Nitin Gadkari, UP deputy chief ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Dinesh Sharma, minister of commerce and industry Suresh Prabhu and minister of textiles and information & broadcasting Smriti Irani, among others.

A total of 30 sessions are scheduled during the course of the event. The focused areas are civil aviation, ITEs, dairy, electronics manufacturing, tourism, renewable energy, film, handloom and textile, agro and food processing.

More than 5,000 delegates are scheduled to attend the two-day summit and over 100 speakers will be addressing gatherings.
