UP Deoria Shelter Home Rapes: 13 Inmates Sent Home, 7 Still Missing

The UP Police has sent home around 13 inmates of the Deoria shelter home to their home, while 7 girls are still missing.

The District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police, Deoria, who were earlier seen evading media interaction, held a press conference on Wednesday.

District Magistrate Amit Kishore said, “Out of the children who were rescued from Maa Vidhyavasini Shelter Home in Deoria, 2 are of 10-12 years of age, 8 are of 13-15 years, 11 are of 16-18 years and 15 are adults above the age of 18 years.”

It was also revealed that   13 girls have been sent to their home while physical verification of 7 is yet not possible and are still missing.

Court’s Supervision

The Allahabad High Court Tuesday directed the Uttar Pradesh government to submit a status report in the Deoria shelter home case.

A two-judge bench of Chief Justice Dilip B Bhosale and Justice Yashwant Varma issued the directive while taking suo-motu cognizance of the matter. The court has fixed August 13 for next date of hearing

Chief Minister's Action

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had sent a two-member high-level committee to Deoria for investigation. They will stay there today and will submit a report, following which action will be taken.
