The Uttar Pradesh ATS on Friday nabbed two suspected terrorists, linked to the Pakistan-based terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) in Deoband, Saharanpur and had an involvement in the recent terror attack on CRPF convoy in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama.

The two arrested terrorists have been identified as Shahnawaz Ahmed Teli from Kulgam and Aqib from Pulwama.

Shahnawaz Ahmad Teli is an active JeM member and is a resident of Kulgam, who used to recruit for JeM. The second suspect Aqib Ahmad Malik is a resident of Pulwama.

Speaking on the same UP DGP OP Singh said, “Yesterday after inputs two suspected terrorists were caught from Saharanpur by our ATS wing. They are linked to JeM and both are from Kashmir. Shahnawaz is from Kulgam and Aqib is from Pulwama”.

"Shahnawaz was tasked by to recruit members for Jaish. He is also an expert in the grenade attack. We have evidence against him and once we have his custody, we will question him about the persons he has recruited," he added.

OP Singh further said, "We have recovered some photographs and videos from their mobile. We will question them on what was their target and who was funding these terrorists."

The UP ATS is in touch with the Jammu and Kashmir police and both the agencies are sharing information in connection with the terrorists.

Both the terrorists, who are in their mid-twenties, were arrested by the ATS along with weapons. The anti-terror agency has also seized 32 pistols -- and 30 live cartridges from the suspects.

The ATS is on its toes ever since the deadly terror attack shook Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama, which claimed the lives of 40 Indian soldiers.
