UP Anti Terror Squad Nabs Suspected ISI Agent Working In DRDO's Brahmos Missile Unit At Nagpur

Uttar Pradesh Anti Terror Squad (ATS) on Monday arrested an employee of DRDO over the charges of spying and leaking sensitive information about the Brahmos Project.

The accused is identified as Nishant Aggarwal who is said to be working at Brahmos Aerospace unit since four years. He has been booked under the Official Secrets Act. Police told the media that it is investigating the matter.

The Defence Research and Development Organisation facility from where he was arrested makes propellents, or fuel, for the BrahMos missile. The Police claimed that the accused had got access to sensitive information on India's missile systems.

According to media reports, The local police had no inkling about the presence of the person in the facility and neither did the ATS team inform them about the investigation. The details on Agarwal's connections and modus operandi are being probed.

In September, the UP ATS arrested an alleged terrorist of Hizbul Mujahideen from Kanpur. The accused had plans to carry out terror activities on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi.

The BrahMos is a medium-range ramjet supersonic cruise missile, it is uniquely configured for installing in ships, submarines and aircraft and on ground vehicles. It has been flight tested twice during June 2001 and April 2002 meeting all mission objectives.
