Top IAS Officers To Be Assessed On Their Attitude Towards Weaker Section Of Society

Top IAS officers at the secretary and additional secretary level will soon go through an assessment in which their attitude will ascertain towards weaker sections of society as per draft appraisal forms finalised by the Ministry of Personnel.

As per reports, the annual performance report of the top babus will also include details of their decision-making abilities in complex and decisive situations and how accurately and timely they took the decision.

They will also be asked not to comment in more than 50 words on their attributes which includes their ownership in the position of responsibility and how they stand out for Right, and how they brought innovative approaches to a situation. The record of their abilities to lead a team will also be maintained.

The Ministry has already written to Chief Secretaries of all the states governments and Union Territories to roll out these changes and to include them in the performance appraisal forms for IAS officers. They have been asked to submit their views on the proposal latest by June 28 failing which it will be deemed that the state governments have no objection to the proposal.

The changes are proposed in two forms in which form-one is for all IAS officers except Secretary and additional secretary level. Form-two is for Secretary and additional secretary levels.
