Sushma Swaraj To Take Up The Issue Of Forceful Conversion Of Sikhs With Government Of Pakistan

India will take up the reports of forceful conversion of Sikhs in Hangu district of Khyber Pakhtunwa. Pakistani daily Express Tribune had published a report that brought to light the concerns of Sikh community in Hangu district where community members had complained against a government official for forcing Sikhs to convert to Islam.

Reacting to this report External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj expressed concern and said that she would take this up at the highest level with the government of Pakistan.

Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh had brought the news report to Swaraj’s notice on twitter requesting her to take up the issue with Pakistan.

“We cannot allow the Sikh community to be victimised in such a manner. It’s our duty to help protect the Sikh identity and the MEA should pursue the matter at the highest levels”, he added.
