Punjab Cabinet Minister and Former Cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu on Monday met External Affairs Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu to discuss the Kartarpur Sahib corridor.

According to media reports, Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal has claimed that EAM Sushma Swaraj rebuked him for messing up the Kartarpur Sahib corridor talks. Swaraj has also strongly condemned Sidhu’s act of hugging the Pakistan Army Chief Qamar Bajwa, who is responsible for the death of many Indian soldiers.

Sidhu had visited Pakistan last month to attend the swearing ceremony of Prime Minister Imran Khan. He faced immense criticism and controversy from the beginning of his visit as he left for Pakistan while the nation was mourning on the death of the former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajyapee.

Troubles increased as he was made to sit beside the President of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir. He was also seen hugging the Pakistan’s Army Chief Qamar Javed Bajwa. This act of hugging was widely criticized as people accused Bajwa of being the person responsible for the killing of Indian Soldiers.

“If you’re invited as a guest of honour somewhere, you sit wherever you are asked to. I was sitting somewhere else but they asked me to sit there,” Sidhu said to the media in defence.

Pakistan PM Imran Khan defending Navjot Singh Sidhu had said, “I want to thank Sidhu for coming to Pakistan for my oath taking. He was an ambassador of peace & was given amazing love & affection by people of Pakistan. Those in India who targeted him are doing a great disservice to peace in the subcontinent, without peace, our people cannot progress.”
