Smriti Irani Slams Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik For Not Reducing State Taxes On Petrol & Diesel

Union Minister of Textiles, Smriti Irani on Sunday slams Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for not reducing state taxes on petrol and diesel when the central government reduced fuel prices by Rs 2.50 per litre on Thursday and urged state governments to reduce petrol and diesel price by additional Rs 2.50 per litre.

Irani also said that Patnaik is not letting people to avail benefits of Prime Minister Modi led government launched Ayushman Bharat scheme.

"Modi Govt reduced Rs 2.50 on fuel prices, but Naveen Babu has not reduced the state taxes, not only this, he is not letting people of Odisha avail benefits of Ayushman Bharat scheme," Irani said.

Reciprocation positively to the central government request to reduce petrol and diesel price by additional Rs 2.50 per litre, 10 state government had reduced the prices.

The 10 state governments that reduced petrol and diesel prices were Tripura, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Uttrakhand, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh and Assam.

Announcing a decline in fuel prices, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Thursday said, “The government has decided that Revenue Department will absorb Rs 1.50 per litre while Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) will absorb the other Rs 1.”
