In view of the premises search ordered by the Punjab and Haryana High Court of the sprawling 800 acre Dera Sacha Sauda headquarters in Sirsa, the Haryana government on Friday has imposed a curfew on the areas surrounding the Dera which will be in place until the search operations are complete.

During the search of the Dera, computers, hard disks, cash and plastic currency have been recovered.

"Some computers, hard disks and cash seized. Few rooms also sealed. Forensic team has been called from Roorkee," said Dy Director Satish Mehra

Although the Dera spokeswoman Vipassana Insan has appealed to the followers to maintain peace, stringent security arrangements are in place to prevent violence such as that which had occurred on the day that Dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh had been convicted of rape.

"Dera has always followed law. Appeal to followers to maintain peace," said Vipassana Insan.

The massive search party mobilised for Dera premises inspection includes 41 paramilitary companies, 4 army columns, a SWAT team and a dog squad. Police from 4 districts and a bomb squad will be accompanying the security personnel to the Dera, while a total of 5,000 security personnel have been deployed to the concerned district.

The entire search and 'sanitisation' process is to be video-graphed and overseen by court commissioner AKS Pawar.

"A meeting has been held about the search operation that will begin on Friday. The duties have been assigned to various officials for the operation. We gave relaxation in curfew on Wednesday and Thursday," said Sirsa deputy commissioner Prabhjot Singh.
