Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Death Anniversary: From Prime Minister To President, Nation Pays Tribute To 'Iron Man' Of India

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, paid tribute to the country's first deputy Prime Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his 68th death Anniversary, on Friday.

PM Modi took to his Twitter account and wrote, "Remembering the great Sardar Patel on his Punya Tithi. His thoughts, rich work and strong effort towards India's unity inspire generations of Indians." 

Vallabhbhai Patel who was known for his contribution in uniting the country through the merger of small princely states was born on October 31, 1875, and died on December 15, 1950.

Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath also paid tribute to the Iron man of India, quoting him as the architect of the Republic of India, he added: "The respect which the leader should have been given, after the Independence, was now being given to the stalwart." Governor Ram Naik accompanied the CM.

President Ram Nath Kovind on Saturday also paid tribute to the country’s first Home Minister and subsequently took to his Twitter account and wrote, "On the death Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, I got the opportunity to pay tribute to a huge personality like him on the statue of Unity. This place has become the centre of attraction for not only India, but to the whole world."
