Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and a veteran politician of Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) died on Thursday in All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) hospital in Delhi.

Before the demise of Vajpayee, there was a flood of politicians who reached the hospital to meet him for the last time.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, senior BJP leader LK Advani, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, BJP President Amit Shah and Congress President Rahul Gandhi had reached the AIIMS to know his health.

Vajpayee was someone who was praised by his opponents as well. His fearless politics style and memorable speeches gained him a different image in the country as a politician and Prime Minister.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee was elected as a 10-time member of the Lok Sabha and a 2-time member of the Rajya Sabha and was the first Indian prime minister not belonging to the Congress party.

The 93-year-old BJP leader was admitted to the AIIMS hospital on June 11 with chest congestion, a kidney tract infection and low urine output.

A team of doctor has been treating Vajpayee under the supervision of pulmonologist Dr. Randeep Guleria who is also currently the director of AIIMS.

Vajpayee was also one of the founder members of Jana Sangh, which later become BJP. In the first Lok Sabha elections, only two seats came in the party's account but Vajpayee did not give up.

The result of his courage and determination at that time can be seen as BJP is currently ruling in 20 states of the country having the centre's power.

Vajpayee was born on December 25, 1924, which is marked as 'Good Governance Day'.
