Rewari Gangrape: Haryana Govt. Orders SIT Probe, Police Identifies Accused As Defense Personnel

After the shocking gang rape in Haryana’s Rewari, the state government on Saturday announced the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the alleged gangrape of a 19 year old on September 12.

Director General of Police) BS Sandhu, Haryana told media reporters that the main accused in the case has been identified as a serving defense personnel stationed in Rajasthan.

Heading the SIT in the Nuh SP Naazneen Bhasin said, “Medical report confirms rape. We've made multiple teams to nab the accused. I appeal to the people to give us any information they've regarding the case & have announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh for those who help us in cracking the case.”

Bhasin added further, “I have spoken to the victim today, her condition is stable. The main accused have been identified. We are investigating every aspect of the case.”

Sudarshan Panwar, Medical Superintendent, Rewari district hospital said, “The victim's condition is stable and she's recovering from trauma. Her x-ray & ultrasound reports are normal. We will continue to review her condition regularly.”

Lt Gen Cherish Mathson, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief South Western Command  said, “If an army personnel is involved in the crime we will facilitate that the person is caught and booked for rape. We do not shelter criminals.”

The girl was abducted at around 8 am on Wednesday morning and dropped near the Kanina bus stand at 5 pm on the same evening. Her parents took her to the district hospital late on Wednesday night following which a ‘zero FIR’ was registered with the police on Thursday which was later transferred to the Kanina police station. The victim was admitted to a hospital in Rewari after she complained of pain in the abdomen.
