In a brief respite for RJD president Lalu Prasad Yadav, who is currently serving multiple sentences in fodder scam cases, was on Wednesday granted a 5-day parole to attend the wedding of his elder son Tej Pratap Yadav. Lalu was earlier denied parole to attend Tej Pratap's engagement in April.

Currently, Lalu is unwell and undergoing treatment at the RIMS hospital in Ranchi, Jharkhand, but is expected to fly out to Patna on Wednesday evening.

The 30-year-old Tej Pratap Yadav, a sitting lawmaker and former state minister, was engaged to Aishwarya in a ceremony in Patna on April 28, but Lalu was not present at the event.

Lalu Yadav has been facing health complications and also underwent treatment at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) New Delhi, but was transferred to RIMS in Ranchi on May 1 as the doctors advised that he was fit to travel despite his protests.

Aishwarya Roy is the daughter of 6-time Rashtriya Janata Party lawmaker Chandrika Roy who has been a cabinet colleague of Lalu Yadav in many governments. Her grandfather Daroga Prasad Roy was a veteran Congress leader and even Chief Minister for about 11 months.
