Republic Day 2018: Paying Tribute To The Constitution Of Sovereign, Democratic Republic Of India

India is celebrating its 69th Republic Day this year. The entire Nation celebrates this day to honour the date January 26, when the Constitution of India came into effect. The country was declared as a Sovereign, Socialist, Democratic Republic means people of India has the power to govern the nation by themselves.  

The Constitution of India replaced the Government of India Act 1935 as a governing document on January 26, 1950.

Republic day has a great importance in the history as it tells us about the struggle that cost freedom to the Nation. People who were fighting for Independence of India took a pledge on the same day in 1930 at the banks of Ravi river in the Lahore to achieve a complete independence (means Poorna Swarajya) of India. Which came true a day in 1947 on 15th of August.

Republic Day is celebrated with great enthusiasm and passion across the Nation. Parade of Indian Armed Forces is held at Rajpath, New Delhi. The parade starts from Vijay Chowk and ends at India Gate.

At the start of the event, the National Anthem was played with a 21-gun salute after the unfurling of the tricolour. President Ram Nath Kovind has presided This year's Republic Day parade. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has invited, the 10 leaders of the Association of Southeast Asian Nation or ASEAN to be a part of the celebration as guests of honour at the parade. In which India is showcasing its military power, culture and diversity.

Hundreds of people have also assembled at Rashtrapati Bhavan grounds and along the Rajpath to witness the parade ceremony.

National capitol has been wrapped in a high-security blanket to ensure the peaceful celebration. Special teams and snipers have been deployed to keep a vigil on the eight-km parade route from Rajpath to Redfort. As well as 100s of CCTV cameras and drone are watching people's movement along the parade route. Nearly 60,000 security personnel of Delhi Police and Central security forces have been Disseminated in Central Delhi.
