Rajnath Singh Assures Central Government Help For Assam Floods And J&k Floods

Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday spoke to Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and took stock of the prevailing flood situation in the state. Rajnath assured of all possible help to Assam, Jammu and Kashmir and North Eastern states to overcome the flood situations.

The flood situation in the Northeastern states of Manipur, Assam, and Tripura on June 16 has affected the life of 5 lakh people across Assam, Manipur, and Tripura.

In Assam, nearly 4 lakh people have been affected across 7 districts of the state, with the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) reporting that 3.87 lakh people have been affected in Hojai, Karbi Anglong East, Karbi Anglong West, Golaghat, Karimganj, Hailakandi, and Cachar.

A report issued by the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) total number of flood-affected people went up to 67,976 on Friday from 50,334 on Thursday. The number of flood-affected people increased to 35,429 in Charaideo from 22,429 on Thursday.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has also warned that heavy rains will occur over Arunachal Pradesh in next 24 hours.

Authorities had alerted Central Kashmir region of floods like situation after rain-related mishaps happened in the Jammu region of the state.

Rajnath Singh has given assurance to Jammu and Kashmir to provide all possible support from the central government to fight flood situations. It was a telephonic conversation between Rajnath and Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Shri NN Vohra on the flood situation in certain parts of the state.
