President of Indian National Congress Rahul Gandhi on Sunday slammed the BJP indirectly in a tweet, blaming its style of politics for the lynchings happening around the nation.

“The politics of hatred and communal polarisation is irreparably damaging our social fabric,” tweeted Rahul Gandhi.

“The brutal lynchings across India that have sickened our nation, are the direct consequence of that kind of politics,” he added.

This came after 8 men who were convicted in a murder by lynching case visited Union minister of state for civil aviation Jayant Sinha’s residence on Friday. Jayant Sinha was seen honouring and garlanding them.

The pictures of their met went viral and attracted criticism from Opposition parties. All of the 8 accused are convicted for the lynching of coal trader Alimuddin Ansari in Ramgarh in June 2017. Last week they had secured bail from Jharkhand High court.

His father, Yashwant Sinha, a former union minister in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government was also not happy with the gesture of his son and tweeted, “Earlier I was the Nalayak Baap of a Layak Beta. Now the roles are reversed.”

Yashwant Sinha had condemned the action of his son for honouring criminals who disturbed the diversity of the country.

Lynching cases have been increasing in numbers since the Bhartiya Janta Party government came into power.
