Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena, on Wednesday, said that Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra are no match to PM Narendra Modi's leadership. This statement came two days after Shiv Sena and BJP locked pre-poll ties with each other for 2019 Lok Sabha Elections.

Shiv Sena mouthpiece Saamana said that the doubts raised on the Sena-BJP alliance are not by the voters of the alliance, but by 'insects', which will be crushed because of the Sena-BJP alliance.

Referring to Modi’s stewardship, it said, “Rahul Gandhi’s book of development has improved much since 2014 and he has Priyanka’s help. However, they can’t be compared with Modi’s leadership.”

The editorial piece in Saamana said that Shiv Sena is an 'equal partner' in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and that the notes of dissent aired, were done, keeping in mind the larger 'national interest'.

It added, "It is time to fight the elections on the basis of work done and future... BJP realized two years ago that they will not cross the majority numbers on their own.”

According to the editorial, the consensus on numbers was reached during the visit of BJP chief Amit Shah during his visit to Thackeray's residence Matoshree. Besides seat-sharing, the discussions also involved Ram Mandir and Chief Ministerial berth to Sena candidate- the editorial says.
