Rahul Gandhi Launches Year-Long 'Save The Constitution' Campaign From Delhi

Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Monday launched a year-long 'Save The Constitution' campaign from Delhi, to highlight the alleged 'attacks' on the Constitution and Dalits in recent times. The campaign would be taken up at state-level by the party's respective SC departments to reach out to people from the village level directly, ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

While inaugurating the campaign, the Congress president Rahul Gandhi slammed PM Modi on several issues.

"In his book "Karmayog", PM Modi justifies manual scavenging by calling it a 'spiritual experience' for the Valmiki community. This speaks volumes about his anti-Dalit mindset," said Congress President Rahul Gandhi during the launch of 'Save the Constitution' campaign at Delhi's Talkatora stadium.

"Modiji, Dalits are angry with you because this is your thought. You can worship Ambedkar with flowers but can never respect him. Each and every Dalit knows when he looks at Modi, he knows that Modi does not have place for Dalits, SC, or women in his heart," Rahul Gandhi said.

"Look at Nirav Modi, Vijay Mallya, Rafale Scam, Modiji is scared to address the Parliament. Let me have a face to face debate with Modi in parliament on Rafale, he cannot face me even for 15 minutes. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is afraid of speaking in Parliament," he said.

"People have lost its faith in the judiciary. First time, it's the SC judges who are asking Justice from the public. SC is being pressured and destroyed. Our institutions were gifted to us by our Constitution. The Modi Govt is now destroying these institutions by appointing RSS ideologues to occupy important positions," said Rahul Gandhi.

"PM Modi's earlier slogan was Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao. Now, the new slogan is only Beti Bachao and Bacho from BJP MLAs," said the Congress President referring to Uttar Pradesh's Unnao rape case where a BJP MLA is accused of raping a 17-year-old girl.

"Over 2 crore youths are unemployed, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi speaks of spirituality. In 2019, Indians will tell Narendra Modi their Mann Ki Baat," he said.

"Entire world thought that India's richness lies in its diversity. They though India's constitution, institutions, the Supreme Court had a lot of value and looked up to us. When I was in South Africa, they said India guides them. But this reputation has been destroyed by BJP. Now minor rapes, minority attacks, Dalit atrocities. They have wasted our efforts over 70 years," said Rahul Gandhi.

"You snatched scholarship from Dalit and Adivasi. You destroyed small businesses and farmers. Now farmers only stare at suicide," he said.

"A press person has asked me a question in MNREGA. I will answer it, ask this to PM Modi and you will be thrown out of the room. Even if you are against us, we will defend and support you," said Congress President Rahul Gandhi at the launch event.

The 'Save The Constitution' campaign launched on Monday will continue till April 14, 2019, the birth anniversary of Dalit icon Dr BR Ambedkar.
