Congress Leader Mani Shankar Aiyar today called Prime Minister ‘Neech Kisam Ka Aadmi’

Aiyar, who infamously dismissed Modi as a “chaiwalla” ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha elections

Criticising PM Modi for his speech at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre Aiyar reportedly said “Mujhko lagta hai ki ye aadmi bahut neech kisam ka aadmi hai, isme koi sabhyata nahi hai, or aise mauke par is kisam ki gandi rajniti karne ki kya avashyakta hai? (This man is a low-life person, he isn't cultured... at this moment why does he need to practice such dirty politics?” he told reporters on Thursday.

PM Modi while inaugurating Dr Ambedkar International Centre had hit out at Nehru without naming him. He said “Attempts to erase Baba Saheb Ambedkar's role failed, he has been more influential in the minds of people, much more than the family for which all this was done.”

Aiyar’s comment drew sharp reactions from people across political lines. PM Modi in his Surat rally took up Aiyar’s statement and said their responses will be given by the ballot boxes.

Congress VP President elect Rahul Gandhi took to twitter asking Mani Shankar Aiyar to apologise.

“BJP and PM routinely use filthy language to attack the Congress party. The Congress has a different culture and heritage. I do not appreciate the tone and language used by Mr Mani Shankar Aiyer to address the PM. Both the Congress and I expect him to apologise for what he said.” Rahul tweeted

Aiyar has apologized for his remarks but questioned PM Modi’s criticism of Rahul Gandhi and the congress party at the inauguration of Ambedkar International Centre. Aiyar added that by neech he meant ‘low’ as he thinks in English even when he speaks in Hindi.
