Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Monday broke his silence on the ongoing tussle between Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal, slamming Prime Minister Narendra Modi for nudging chaos and disorder.

Gandhi also alleged that PM Modi was turning a blind eye to the anarchy, and that the people of Delhi were the victims as the 'drama' played out.

"Delhi CM, sitting in Dharna at LG office. BJP sitting in Dharna at CM residence. Delhi bureaucrats addressing press conferences. PM turns a blind eye to the anarchy; rather nudges chaos & disorder. People of Delhi are the  victims, as this drama plays out," tweeted the Congress president.

The Aam Aadmi Party slammed Rahul Gandhi for his tweet, with AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh accusing the Congress President of speaking 'the language of BJP'.

Since June 11, CM Kejriwal and other leaders have been sitting on protest outside the home-cum-office of LG Anil Baijal, demanding that IAS officers return to work from the 'strike' AAP alleges the officers are on.

Although Rahul Gandhi spoke on the AAP-LG standoff for the first time on Monday, Congress leader and former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit earlier slammed the protests by the AAP as an 'excuse not to work'. She added that there may be differences between the CM and LG but they should be worked out peacefully.

While the Delhi CM may not have the support of the Congress, 4 other Chief Ministers have expressed their support to Kejriwal, namely West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu, Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan, and Karnataka CM HD Kumaraswamy.
