PM Modi To Launch Zojila Tunnel During Jammu & Kashmir Visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on a day-long visit to Jammu and Kashmir to inaugurate multiple development projects in the state.

He will kickstart work from the eminent project- Zojila tunnel, which will connect Baltal and Minamarg. The 14-kilometre long Zojila tunnel will be India's longest road tunnel and Asia's longest bidirectional tunnel.

At the same time, Prime Minister Modi will attend the closing ceremony of the birth centenary celebrations of the 19th Kushok Bakula Rinpoche in Leh.

Modi will inaugurate development projects in International Convention Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar. The authorities have sealed all the routes to this venue and have sounded a red alert in the entire state.

High-speed mobile telephony was suspended, educational institutes closed and restrictions imposed in parts of the Valley ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday.

The prime minister is also expected to dedicate to the nation the 330-MW Kishenganga Power Project constructed in the Gurez area of Kashmir and will also lay the foundation stone for the Srinagar Ring Road and Jammu Ring Road.

The 42.1-km, four-lane road will link Galandar in West Srinagar to Sumbal in Badnipora district.

He will also inaugurate the Tarakote Marg and ropeway of Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board. The Tarakote Marg which will facilitate pilgrims visiting the shrine at the at the General Zorawar Singh Auditorium in Jammu.

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari will also be present at the events. The convocation of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology in Jammu will also be attended by Modi.
