Ahead of the first phase of Lok Sabha elections on 11 April, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will today address the nation shortly with an "important message".
The news of PM Narendra Modi's surprise address came from his personal Twitter handle. Tweeting in both Hindi and English, PM Modi said he would be addressing the nation with an important address between 11:45 am and noon.
“I would be addressing the nation at around 11:45 am - 12.00 noon with an important message. Do watch the address on television, radio or social media,” the prime minister wrote on Twitter.

The electoral battle to win the Lok Sabha polls is in full swing with all the political parties aggressively campaigning across the country. The 2019 election will see Prime Minister Narendra Modi making a bid to win a second term in the office while the Opposition will try to prevent the PM and BJP from coming to power again.
The 2019 Indian general election is scheduled to be held in seven phases from 11 April to 19 May 2019 to constitute the 17th Lok Sabha. The counting of votes will be conducted on 23 May, and on the same day, the results will be declared.
