The AIIA has been set up as an apex institute under the ministry of AYUSH (Department of Ayurveda, Yoga, and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy) and is expected to bring together the traditional wisdom of Ayurveda along with modern diagnostic tools and technology.

Already, the AIIA has begun work on facilitating patient care and research, bridging the gap between the scientific acceptance of the quality, safety, and usefulness of Ayurveda products and their full potential.
